In a society oriented by profitability, efficiency and productivity, there is no room for slowness, for larger, fragile bodies that produce less. In the shop windows, species of contemporary oracles, there are no mannequins of old bodies. Older people are not represented in the imaginary of possibilities. And this complexity of the place of old age was further aggravated by the pandemic.

Peça de Mercat (or Cinema Antic) is a performance, a sound work, an installation and an urban intervention created through ethnographic research with older people from the city, by interviews to gather stories that can update the situation of the text The Chairs from Eugène Ionesco (1952). Some of the questions from Ionesco’s text were extracted and used as starting points for the ERRO Grupo’s talks with older people found on the streets.

ERRO GRUP was born in 2001 in Florianópolis, Santa Catarina, Brazil, with the aim of its members researching art as an intervention in people's daily lives and its interdisciplinary concepts and languages. The group, through the construction of situations, seeks the union of artistic languages, the interpreter, the invasion of public space and the dilution of art in everyday life. With its situational praxis, ERRO intervenes with the daily flows, the urban landscape and the media, looking for other ways of living and inserting the city. Through the search for a frontier artistic language, ERRO seeks the exploration of urban space based on its meanings, environments, architectures, discourses and the creation of possible situations and relationships between people circulating in the streets.
